On this website you'll find the answers to all your questions in respect to Foam Mattresses.
Here are the most important tips about Foam Mattress, check out the links to the left for more details.
- Different Types of Foam Mattresses
There are two main groups of Foam Matresses, the difference is mainly in the raw material that is used to manufacture the matress, and consequently the price range for these mattresses:
- Synthetic Foams:There is a wide variety of synthetic foams with differing firmnesses, durability, shock absorption, breathability, resiliency and other characteristics, all synthetic foams are petro-chemical foams - petroleum based man-made foams. Memory Foams are the high end, polyurethane foams are used to construct cheap mattresses.
- Latex Foams: Latex foam is natural - made from the sap of the rubber tree. It is non-allergenic and highly resilient. Latex Foam is naturally resistant to mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria. It holds its shape for decades without sagging or permanent body impressions. It does not hold body heat like synthetic "visco-elastic" memory foam. Latex cores for mattresses and pillows are molded with thousands of air channels for breathability and a cool, comfortable sleeping environment.
- Protecting your Foam Mattress:
It's best to place either a Mattress Topper or Mattress Pads on top of the mattress before you cover it with your bed sheets. This avoids that body fluids or sweat stain your mattress and keeps it dry. A good choice are products that contain quality raw materials and are hypoallergenic, i.e. with natural latex foam surrounded by pure lambswool.
- Cleaning of Foam Mattresses:
Caring for foam mattresses is easy.
Make sure you protect your mattress that avoids allready a lot of harm. Then it's important to place it on a proper frame so that the air can circulate. Regular vacuuming is a good idea! Some mattresses come with removable covers that you can wash. If your foam mattress is 5 years or older, it might be a good idea to hire a professional mattress cleaning service to take care of an 'mattress overhaul'.
- Tempur-Pedic NASA technology - The construction of Foam Mattresses
Foam Mattresses that are comfortable to lie on, need to be flexible and firm at the same time, something that seems to be impossible at first sight. However, Tempur-Pedic used technology developped by NASA and constructed two layer foam mattresses that are very comfortable: The Memory Foam Mattress adapts to the form of the body, but reverts back to its original shape once the pressure is removed. Newer developments are Tri-Pedic mattresses that use three layers for even more comfort.
